Lučka Tuintam (Lucy Here and There) is my second picture book with author Barbara Vuga. Our first book was nominated for the 2024 Kristina Brenkova Award for the most beautiful picture book of the year in Slovenia. Published in 2025, this new story follows Lučka, a girl from a bilingual, intercontinental family. She speaks Spanish and Slovene—one shared with millions, the other just with her mom. When others see her as only “half,” she finds comfort in stories and realizes she’s not half, but double—here and there.
